Launching Immediate Impact Grants

COVID-19 and its resulting economic challenges have exposed the gaps that already existed in essential resources needed to economically empower women, particularly women of color. As a result, the organizations best positioned to be responsive to women’s needs are also facing immense burdens.

At The Women’s Fund of Central Ohio, we’re focused on building the capacity of adaptive and effective social changemakers, so we have a responsibility to support their relief and rebuilding efforts by investing in them at this critical time. To do that, we’re proud to serve our community by launching a new program to make immediate impact grants this summer. These grants will be awarded to initiatives that support women and girls disproportionately overwhelmed by this crisis and with particular attention to investing in efforts created by, run by, and informed by those most impacted. The immediate impact grant application is now open and available here.

As a transformational grantmaker, we know that social change is not only accomplished through the funds awarded, but also by mobilizing the collective power and passion of all people working together to achieve equality. Our traditional annual grantmaking program, which broke ground as one of the first community-based grantmaking models in central Ohio, invites people from all lived experiences to engage as grant readers and inform what we fund. We’re excited to expand that model to this immediate impact grants program and will welcome diverse voices from across the community to participate as grant readers. More information on how to apply to be a grant reader will be available in the coming weeks, so please stay tuned to our emails and social media channels.

These immediate impact grants are micro-innovation investments that will be deployed as quickly as possible to help stabilize impactful efforts on the frontlines of social change. We look forward to investing in initiatives that not only ease the negative impacts of COVID-19, but also ensure that all women prosper on the road to gender equality.

Together, we are The Women’s Fund and we are social change.
