Media statement:

Women are too often the only ones associated with being the caregiver. And, unfortunately, that means businesses are not equipped with the resources – like diaper changing stations – for men to assume this role. Up until last year, when former President Obama signed into law the Bathrooms Accessible in Every Situation Act, there were no federal regulations to require both women and men’s restrooms in federal buildings. Which was a step in the right direction, today, Columbus took another step.

Thanks to the restaurant changing station grants proposed by Councilmember Michael Stinziano, our community will continue to disrupt gender norms in our society. The Women’s Fund stands in appreciation and support of the effort by Councilman Stinziano and the City of Columbus for their leadership on this issue.
