DEBBIE PHILLIPS REMEMBERING LIBBY BRADFORD
She was my mother-in-law and she was a mother to me.
While I was launching my first career as a newspaper reporter, she was cheering me on as she launched her final career. As a critical care nurse at OSU Hospitals, she was horrified to see patients dying in pain and denial, their families stunned and suffering. So, at age 50, she set out on a mission to bring Hospice to Central Ohio and, along with a band of dedicated professionals, she did!
When she was diagnosed at age 60 with a terminal illness, she turned to our family and said, “We will have Hospice and it will be a beautiful death.” We did and it was.
Through her dying, she taught me how to really live.
I miss you every day and I love you forever, my Libby.
